vivienne westwood shoes- a world wide exhibtion.

every woman has a shoe addiction; a simple pair of heels can make a woman feel the three s’s, sexy, sophisticated and successful. as a woman i was given the oppournity to fulfil my shoe fetish with an exhiliarting exhibtion showcasing over 40 years of shoe design by the queen of contemporary dame vivienne westwood. located in textile and fashion gallery in the bowes museum, barmard castle, county durham the exhibtion featured signature westwood designs including the iconic super elevated gillie as sported by naomi campbell in 1993.this unique collection illustrates the creativity and innovation of contemporary british design and craftsmanship. it is her contrast between the wearable and plain bizarre which makes this exhibition a hit for any fashion lover!

City Stalker

just a collection of inspiring bits and bobs i have came across on my travels.:)

traffic people flag ship store in camden, london. amazing use of visual merchandising, made me want to go into the store- even though i am not really a fan of the clothes.but still brilliant.

"the rootmaster" is the worlds first ever vegan bus-restaurant located in london's brick lane. i loved the whole idea of taking something so iconic of london , the red double decker bus and transforming it into an eatery. fab.

the fine artist in me is loving this display of public art in brick lane, london. its classic yet urban.

the cutest little grocers located by the river thames. fruit and vegetables never looked so appealing!

outside of a vintage shop in camden market.camden is one of my favourite places in london perfect for one off buys and a taste of culture.

andy warhol print in the metropolitan museum of art, nyc. i love how such a simple painting can depict our obsessive views on beauty and perfection. she does look better in the second image i must say!

photograph? nope its an acrylic painting. pure amazing.

this was a window display for a stationary boutique just off 5th avenue, nyc. i love how they have played about with making a garment from paper, linking craft with couture.

this caught my eye in one of the subways in new york.i just thought they were the cutest little figures.reminded me of disney. so random!

this was a random knitted art piece found on the side walk in soho, new york. i am a huge fan of knitting and craft and loved the urban twist on something so traditional.

another example of some graffiti art i came across while shopping in soho, new york. i loved this place, it's the perfect destination for one off boutiques art and culture.

forget about the boring stuff, this week belfast took part in one of the most creative and exhilarating events to date, The ulster art and design festival.this 12 day creatively packed affair consisted of guest lecturers, experimental workshops, along with exhibiting the work of current and graduate students of the university of ulster, art college.  the week commenced with a fashion show exhibiting collections made and designed by ba hons fashion and textile students. below are some of my favourite pieces from the show! enjoy!!

Karen Nicol

featured guest lecturers included that of karen nicol.a women who quite remarkably dabbles in embroidery, mixed media, textiles, interior design and gallery work. based in her design studio in the heart of london she works freelance for fashion designers, galleries and interiors. with an impressive 25 years experience under her belt and clients such as chloe, givenchy and matthew williamson this woman couldn't be a bigger inspiration to me!

below are some examples of her gallery work from her 2010 "conversation pieces" exhibition located in The rebecca hassack art gallery. the exhibition consisted of her magically enchanted twist on the animal kingdom, through heavily embellished embroidery work.

one of nicol's favourite past times includes collecting bits and bobs from car boot sales, vintage and charity shops. in a bid to clear out her studio she made a collection of unique cashmere jumpers each uniquely customised with random objects she has collected over the years. each jumper was a complete one off, selling for £70.
